Sex in the Sticks

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Star Review by Kristie K
Sawyer Bennett brings another swoon-worthy book boyfriend, and believe me…If Logan Burke is offering, Sex in the Sticks is an offer you can’t refuse…
Sex in the Sticks is the first installment of Ms. Bennett’s new Love Hurts series, and what a debut it is! Sassy, sexy, gorgeous Valentine French comes from the world of money and power in the high society lifestyle of the New York City upper crust. As a popular, and sassy dating columnist, Valentine’s job relies on her adventures in dating. Unfortunately for the eligible bachelor’s of New York, Valentine has grown tired of dating metrosexual males that spend more time in front of the mirror than she does. When her closest confidante suggests a change of scenery, Valentine heads off to the wilds of the great unknown, and the “real men” of the Alaskan wilderness. Determined to find her muse in the parts less traveled, Valentine meets her first knight in shining armor at the ferry docks, in the form of a gorgeous and honorable man of the law. Sheriff Logan Burke is the epitome of the small town hero. Gorgeous, sexy, and one of the best men you could know, he could make any woman swoon. As he watches, and steps up, as Valentine makes friends with the local male population, Logan starts to see Valentine in a new light. He starts seeing her for the amazing woman she really is. Problem is, he knows he won’t want to stop once he gets a taste.
Yet another home run from the masterful Sawyer Bennett, Sex in the Sticks is a flirty, fun, and oh-so-sexy piece of literature. Ms. Bennett has built a story around two unlikely love interests, and thrown in the perfect amount of humor, angst, and erotic heat. The characters are incredible, each with their own personalities, thoughts, desires, and needs. Relatable, lovable, and desirable, these characters hit the sweet spot. With a captivating storyline, playful banter, witty plot, and lots of sexy…Sex in the Sticks is a definite win.
Hello just loved it! 😍
Love In The Alaskan Wilderness
Valentine is a rich blogger who's become bored with life--dating life included. Valentine swears love, marriage and kids are NOT in her future. Her parents weren't around while she was young and they each cheated on the other throughout their marriage. While she believes in a monogamous relationship, she just doesn't think love is in the books for her. Her best friend and cousin, suggests she change things up a bit and date a different type of guy. So she allows Jeremy to make reservations for her to go to Alaska where the ratio of men to women is greatly skewed in Valentine's favor.
Logan, Chief of Police and Mayor of East Merritt, happens to be in the right place at the time. He's in Ketchikan to pick up new police supplies when he first lays eyes on Valentine. He thinks she's drop dead gorgeous, but out of place. He offers to take her to East Merritt and so it begins....Logan is repeatedly called to "rescue" Valentine and her dog. He thinks she's hilarious, but a breath of fresh air.
Valentine has told Logan she's in East Merritt to date, but doesn't know she's blogging about her dating experiences. Valentine blogs about her date and sex life with Logan, but decides she can no longer share Logan through her blog when her feelings for him deepen. When Logan finds out about her deception, he demands she move out while he's out of town visiting his family. Valentine is devasted and heartbroken. She knows she doesn't deserve Logan, but doesn't know how she can live without him. Logan thought he found "the one", but doesn't know if he can forgive her.
Loved it, loved it, loved it! I think it was one of the sexiest, funniest novels I've read in a long time! This is a stand-alone, second chance novel. If you're into rugged, sexy, sweet, Alpha men, I highly recommend this novel!!! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Wow!! Sex in the Sticks by Sawyer Bennett blew me away. After a slow start I found that I couldn’t put down this book. Rich, socialite Valentine French might have enjoyed dating metrosexual guys but I found them boring and egocentric. I enjoyed the banter Val had with Logan Burke, sheriff and mayor of East Merritt, Alaska. Logan was definitely an alpha male with no metrosexual tendencies. Val also impressed me with her ability to adapt to living in this small town after living in New York City. Ms. Bennett did a nice job balancing the sexy with the humorous.
This might have been one of the first Sawyer Bennett books I’ve read and will not be the last. I highly recommend this book to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Lots of heat!!!!

Valentine and Logan completely stole my heart. Valentine is a rich girl from NY who has it all, but isn't satisfied with life. Dating is boring and she continually dates men from the upper class who do nothing for her. When her cousin suggests she check out the men in Alaska for something different, she jumps at the chance! Valentine writes a blog and this is just what she needs to spice things up! She plans to date a lot of men for material for her blog. What she didn't count on was falling for the chief/mayor of the small town she was staying in.
Logan knew that Valentine was only there for a visit, however long that would be. But once he claimed her as his, there was no going back. She made him feel things he'd never felt before. When it came time for her to leave, would he be able to let her go?
Logan's rough and tumble way and Valentine's crazy antics made me fall in love with this couple. Logan was sweet and sexy and his whole world quickly became about Valentine. Valentine and her crazy blog made me laugh out loud. She is all city girl heading to the woods. It made for a lot of fun and a great read! I thought it was a fun story with great characters. I hope April and Jorgen get a book! I loved them, too!
Lough out loud hilarious!
Sex In The Sticks is a rom com that is quite humorous at times. Logan is the Police Chief and mayor of the tiny town of East Merritt Alaska. It's a wilderness community that gets mostly visitors for fishing or people who work as loggers.
It's mostly big burly men with very few women. Valentine is from New York City and is an heiress that has her own blog about dating men in the city. She's tired of the men in the city and decides to go to Alaska and try out the men there and blog about it.
What happens is laugh out loud hilarious. There is some serious sexy times with Logan. Grab this book and find out what happens with her blog experiment.
I voluntarily received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book from Net Galley for my honest review.
Fun, low angst read!
By ~Mindy Lou~
The whole time I'm reading this book, I kept thinking this would make a cute movie. I really enjoyed this low angst book and it would have earned a full 5 stars from me if I didn't want to slap Logan upside the head. I don't know why these men in these books don't do what I want them too.
In all seriousness, if you looking for something that won't get your emotions up too high and for lack of a better word, just want to relax into a book, this is a good choice.
I was pretty envious of Valentine. She's a trust fund baby and lives off her family trust, spending days blogging about her dating life. She was slightly spoiled, but not annoyingly so. She was still relatable and fun. Honestly, sounds like a great life to me.
Valentine is sick and tired of dating metro-sexual males in New York. She wants a change and her cousin suggest going to Alaska to meet a different type of male. As part of her dating and sex advice blog, she decides this is a great idea and goes blindly to a small town in Alaska.
This was where I was afraid the spoiled Valentine would get too annoying, but I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, she's used to finer things in life but she adapted pretty quickly. Got into a lot of little mishaps that just made the book fun and introduced so many characters living in this little town that you felt like you were right there with her.
Valentine starts this trip out by wanting to serial date these rugged, manly men but learns real quick that Logan, the chief and mayor of Merritt, Alaska is the only man she wants to get to know.
I loved Logan, but there was two times in the book I wanted to slap him upside the head. Nothing too serious, just the typical stubborn male and too much pride. I really loved how Valentine treated these instances. I didn't really think the conflict towards the end was worth the reaction he gave her but she couldn't have handled it any better.
Overall, a fun read and I'm so curious who the next book will be about. I really hope we will be staying in Merritt for the next couple. I truly enjoyed the background setting of this story. ARC provided by Netgalley.
Ms. Bennett does it again in Alaska
OK, I am not going to lie. When I first saw this title, for some unknown reason, before I read the blurb, my twisted mind thought “sticks” meant hockey sticks. Please, do not ask me why, I do not know, well maybe because Sawyer Bennett writes such phenomenal Cold Fury Hockey stories (which I totally love). Imagine my surprise, my delighted surprise, when the book takes place in the “sticks” of Alaska. A place that I can only dream of ever seeing, but is on my bucket list.
This is the story of Valentine French and Logan Burke. Val or Valley, as her friends call her, is a blogger about dating in New York City. But, lately she has been having trouble writing her blog. The men are all the same. They all seem to be self-absorbed men, more worried about themselves than anything else. She needs a change of scenery. When her cousin suggests East Merritt, Alaska, the inspiration hits.
Logan Burke is sheriff of East Merritt. He, like every other hot blooded male in East Merritt likes what he sees the first time he sets his eyes on Val. But, he also sees that this city slicker will be nothing but trouble. First, he must rescue her dog, Sassy when she runs off. Then, he must take her shopping for clothes fit for Alaskan weather. Then, he must rescue Val herself, when she gets lost in the forest. Nothing, but trouble.
I LOVED watching these two, the city slicker and the small-town sheriff, fall in love. It seems in this case opposites did attract. But when Logan finds out about the blog and what she…. stop!!! No spoilers.
I loved this sweet, yes, sweet, but definitely, a sizzling HOT story, with all of the ins and outs of small town living. And Logan really should have realized that the gossips, had their information wrong about…. Darn it, I said no spoilers. But, I will say Logan should have known better.
I was gifted with a copy of the wonderful, emotional story for my honest opinion. I will say this about this book, if you like a wonderful, hot, sexy romantic story, you can’t go wrong with Sex in the Sticks.
Thank you for reading my review.
Fun lighthearted read
This book fell a little short for me because of the heroine. I normally love Sawyer Bennett's books esp the hockey series......have read them all! This book is about a blogger going into the Alaskan wilds to compare the "real" men to the metrosexuals in NYC. Valentine came off as entitled, selfish and childish.....even though she is 31. There were parts in the beginning part of the book where the author tries to present Valentine as a more down to earth society heiress because she doesn't care what type of wine she drinks, she writes about sex and ignores her pompous parents. But all of that makes her seem more self-absorbed.
She comes to Alaska to write her blog in secret.....even when she meets an upstanding guy. And that's the part I hate. I can't stand stories where the heroine is a journalistic type and tries to secretly write an expose regardless of the innocent people involved. It is just too conniving esp when hearts and emotions are at stake.
The chemistry between the two were scorching! And by 60-70% of the book Valentine was easier to handle and by the end of the book, I was really glad I read the book! Logan on the other hand was just great! He was definitely an upstanding guy and very real.
It’s getting hot in Alaska
4 1/2 stars for the first book in Sawyer Bennett's new series! I was luck to get my hands on an ARC of this one. This is a sweet and sexy story with some pretty interesting characters. As always with Sawyer's books the writing is fabulous and you feel like you are right there in the story with her characters. I will admit it took me a bit to warm up to the heroine of this one, Valentine, I think because of her blogging and her decision to do a social experiment and go to Alaska to see if the men there were different from the metrosexual men she was always meeting in NYC. It felt a bit pretentious to me. I didn't like that she planned on blogging about her dates without her dates knowing. Thankfully little by little throughout the book she redeems herself and I end up really liking her. I think the Valentine she is with Logan is what makes me end up really liking her.
She first meets Logan in the small town in Alaska where her cousin, who made her travel arrangements, sets her up. He is the Chief of Police in the next town over. Logan is the type of man she was hoping to find in Alaska. He is gorgeous, strong and above that appears to be a gentleman, a manly man, an alpha man. There is attraction but there is also an easy friendship that develops quickly between them. From the start Logan really sees Valentine and seems to feel the need to protect her. She certainly stands out in their small little town. Logan and Valentine have some seriously hot and steamy scenes that would warm anyone on a cold Alaskan night and chemistry like crazy.
There are some shenanigans of course and then some serious issues once Logan finds out about her blog. Can Valentine learn to live in the moment without giving a a play by play to the the masses? Can Logan forgive her for airing out some pretty personal things about their relationship?
You will have to read to find out. I promise it is worth your time. After all, it is Sawyer Bennett.
